Notice of Municipal Election

Notice is hereby given that the City of Atlantis, Florida, will hold its Municipal Election on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm for the purpose of electing three councilors, each for a term of 2 years. There will be one councilor elected representing Group 1, one councilor elected representing Group 3, and one councilor elected representing Group 5. Candidates must be a qualified elector of the City of Atlantis.

The first day of qualifying begins December 9, 2020 at noon, and the final day for qualifying is December 17, 2020 by noon Candidates must file in person with the City Clerk at City Hall, located at:

Times for filing are Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm until said date and time. Each candidate shall be voted upon by the electorate at large.

Qualification to Vote

Registered voters in Precinct 3082 are qualified to vote in this election. To qualify as a registered voter for this Municipal Election, you must register with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections by February 18, 2020.

In the Event of a Tie

In the event of a tie vote between candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast for any office, a Run-Off Election shall be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. To qualify as a registered voter for the Run-Off Election, you must register with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections by March 3, 2020.

City Election

Council members are elected for a two-year term. Qualifications to serve include being a registered voter and a resident of Atlantis.

Register to Vote

To vote for Atlantis City Council, you must be registered to vote in the State of Florida with your Atlantis address. To register to vote, you must be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and a legal resident of Florida.

Political Signs

Per City of Atlantis Code Of Ordinances Section 11.6-9 - Temporary Signs:

Political signs. Temporary political signs, each not exceeding four square feet in sign area and not more than four feet in height, may be displayed on any plot within the city. Political signs shall be limited to one sign per candidate or issue, per plot in any federal, state, county or municipal election. Political signs shall not be placed on any plot within the city without the consent of the property owner. For vacant parcels, the property owner's written consent must be filed with the city clerk prior to the erection or placement of any temporary political signs. Political signs shall be erected no more than 30 days before a federal, state, county or municipal election and must be removed within 48 hours of the election day or political event for which they were placed. If such signs are not timely removed, they may be removed by the city and the city may charge the candidate the actual cost for such removal in accordance with Florida Statutes Section 106.1435. Political signs shall be prohibited in the rights-of-way within the city.
